little girl (I'm) lost

My latest piece, a work in progress. Sketches and experiments.

original photo

retouched

experiment 1 - fairy big eyes different colors some tribal, sacred geometry thang great texture, but still not right

Then I thought about what could be going on in the background? Maybe she should have a guardian or maybe she is the guardian of some sort of species in the animal kingdom. Regardless of the power structure, she needs an animal friend. Then the animal went on her face, and it got all Zoobilee Zoo on me.

really quick sketch, depth of field is wrong, scratch this current version

I posted this all to give it some space and let it breathe. Come back, keep trying. I can't see the forest for the trees at this point. If I continue to go this direction, then I need to render the fur better. A lot of times I get to this point and then just give up or get distracted and don't come back. I would like to finish this one though.

I love when other artists open up on their process and show their sketches! Here it is, all out in the open. Good, bad or otherwise. Would appreciate any and all feedback.

I love this work. I love the attention to detail. Very cool.
